Research at UM
The University of Maryland is recognized as one of the preeminent public research universities in the nation. Faculty in the schools of dentistry, law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy and social work generated $529.1 million in extramural funding in FY12, contributing to important advances in basic science and applied research. An exciting portfolio of patented inventions is available for licensing. To fuel the translation of research and the commercialization of new drugs, diagnostics and devices, the University of Maryland established a 12-acre BioPark bringing much-needed laboratory and office space to the area and encouraging collaboration among biotechnology companies and the university.
